Rosy Reveal: Microneedling and Dermarolling First Impressions

Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is all the rage in today’s skincare world. While the thought of thousands of little needles pricking your face sounds like the opposite of productive, microneedling is meant to allow products to absorb into the skin more efficiently as well as encourage long-term healing. It’s perfect for anti-aging and anti-scarring! You can opt for more intense treatments at the doctor’s office, but in many cases you can safely use .25mm rollers at home for a fraction of the cost. I thought I’d give the treatment a shot to see if I could get firmer, brighter, and smoother skin for less than $30.  Continue reading “Rosy Reveal: Microneedling and Dermarolling First Impressions”

Summer Glow – ft. Anastasia Beverly Hills

I firmly believe in having a formula for creating the perfect summer glow. For me, it starts with a smooth base. From there, I build up by adding in a warm glow, luminous blush, clean brow, full lash, and healthy lip color. Is it a lot? I don’t know; it may seem meticulous, but I love being able to complement my complexion using shade and light.

THE BASE

My favorite smoothing foundation is the Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte foundation. With a Beauty Blender or other makeup sponge, it just creates the most soft focus (and comfortable) finish. I like to set it with the Peach Perfect Setting Powder to really lock it in and further blur any imperfections.

To add a bit of dimension, I like to use a fluffier brush to apply Benefit’s Hoola matte bronzer on the perimeters of my face.

THE GLOW

I love a warm glow. The shade “Lyra” from the ABH Aurora Glow Kit imparts the most ethereal creamsicle – pink crystalline highlight, really blending effortlessly into the skin. I dusted this onto the high points of my cheeks, my hose, and cupid’s bow, and applied with a damp brush to the inner corners of my eyes.

I also sheered out Primavera from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette, along with Antique Bronze and some of the matte orange shades. I wanted to keep the eyes soft, blown out, and open.

THE LUMINOUS COLOR

I kept the eyes fairly neutral, but definitely on the warmer orange side.

The flush of vibrant pink on my cheeks was created by applying the Becca Luminous Blush in Camellia with a damp Beauty Blender. This application sheered out the pigmentation, but made the bright pink color blend right into my skin. It faded into Lyra beautifully.

On my lips, I kept it simple and went with a killer formula for a healthy lip vibe. The Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon in Glace was perfect for adding a pop of color to complete the look.

TIE IT ALL TOGETHER

Two cornerstones of every makeup look: clean, full brows and voluminous lashes.

Using the ABH Brow Definer in Dark Brown, I easily added shape and volume to my brows. The thicker triangular tip makes full, clean brows a breeze to create.

I curled my lashes to prime them for a wide-open eye look. The best curl-holding mascara I have is L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise in Waterproof, so I like to use this as my base for building a nice lash look. To add even more length, volume, and black, I finished with a few coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

What do you think of this “formula” for a summer glow? Do you have any tips for playing up your complexion in a natural look?

How cute are these cacti prints? I love how soft and minimal the design is. I decided to add just the tiniest bit of customization by placing my initials on the cases; I love how it makes it uniquely mine without being overly in-your-face.

The design I chose for my iPhone 7 case ($34USD) was The Single Cactus by Amity Price. For my MacBook Pro Retina 13″ 2015 skin ($29USD), I chose The Mexican Cactus design by the same artist. It’s awesome to be able to see the artist and browse through all of his/her designs!

CaseApp offers sizing for many different generations of products — Apple iPhones, MacBooks, Android phones…

I received my products within a week from the time I placed my order, which is pretty quick for a custom order. As far as pricing, I think the products are worth the higher price tag because of the awesome design choices and ability to customize.

BECCA Bright Eyes Collection: Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer

I have found 1, maybe 2, concealers that don’t make my dry, crinkly under eyes look 20 years more mature than they actually are. I tend to stick to my Maybelline Age Rewind concealer because it looks like skin without completely drying me out. It doesn’t hurt that it’s relatively inexpensive, either. Before finding the Maybelline concealer, I probably tried hundreds of overpriced eye creams and gimmicky correctors/concealers. Then, the Becca Bright Eyes Collection started popping up all over the place. I was hesitant until I saw the pictures and the reviews. Before and after shots showed eye bags miraculously de-puffing and smoothing out, and the reviews seemed to corroborate the claims. With low expectations but a lot of optimism, I ordered the Becca Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer from Sephora and anxiously awaited my package’s arrival.
