No-Foundation Glowing Skin Routine

Now that it’s summer and things are starting to heat up, I haven’t been comfortable in heavy makeup. It’s nice to give the skin a breath of fresh air every once in a while. On days where I want to let my skin chill but still look presentable, I use these products for an effortless glow.

Temporary Rose Gold Hair using Kristin Ess at Target

Rose gold has had a moment in the world of beauty. It’s a universally flattering color that makes my heart flutter! A while back, I used a pink semi-permanent dye from L’Oreal’s Colorista line to give my lightened brown tresses a wash of rose gold. I loved the results! Kristin Ess is a celebrity hair stylist who is everything I hope to be– she is Lauren Conrad’s stylist if that says anything. Her affordable hair line is available at Target and I am a DIE HARD fan. You can read my thoughts on her Shampoo & Conditioner here. Fast forward to her latest release (which has been so difficult to track down due to its selling out). The Rose Gold Temporary Tint is a spray applied to hair in the shower for a wash of pink that lasts the weekend.

Milk Makeup’s Friends & Family Sale 2018: What I Ordered

Milk Makeup is by far the coolest makeup brand out there. All of their products are meticulously curated to give the most minimalistic and editorial vibe. Their packaging is right in line with the product collection, as well! I have never tried anything from the brand, mostly because of the higher price point and unfamiliarity with the product performance, but I have always been so drawn to its aesthetic. I would describe it as Glossier, but punchy. That being said, their Friends and Family sale began yesterday (6/11) and is currently over. With the offer of 25% off purchases $35 or more PLUS free shipping, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to dig into the brand’s beauty portfolio. As an added bonus, I got some gifts with purchase that have me super excited! Continue reading “Milk Makeup’s Friends & Family Sale 2018: What I Ordered”

Makeup Inspiration: Purples and Pinks

I love wearing soft colors on my eyes. I think they make a really bold statement without being loud, difficult to create, or annoying to wear! Recently, pinks and purples have been taking residence on my eyelids. I have so many pretty pastel palettes that look great all over the lids for a  simple wash of color, but my favorite has to be the Nars Narsissist Danger Control eyeshadow palette. These are really cool pastel holographic shadows, some being amazing duochromes and some having galaxy-inspired glitter glows. Here’s a look I created using some of the shadows in the palette along with some others!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette- Initial Thoughts

Sephora’s Memorial Day Sale included some products that simply NEVER go on sale. Of these, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette was knocked down 50% to $25USD. Having wanted this for so long, I didn’t hesitate before adding it to my cart. I wanted to share my initial thoughts on this gorgeous neutral palette as soon as possible because I am so smitten with it!

THOUGHTS

  1. Scent – Can I just start by talking about how this smells like a legitimate chocolate bar? It’s a very appreciated little detail, but it’s not overwhelming. If you’re sensitive to scent, you may not like this part of it, but I personally don’t think it’s enough of a fragrance to be irritating.
  2. Color Range – This palette kills it as far as color range. It has so many great neutral shades with pops of warm reds, burgundies, khakis, and purples. I find the shade range to be similar to the Urban Decay Naked palette, but Chocolate Bar is much more wearable. There are much better neutral matte shadows for blending, plus gorgeous shimmer shades. It seems as though the colors are much more cohesive.
  3. Pigmentation – The colors overall are hit-or-miss. Most of the matte shades are excellent; they are buildable, smooth, and can pack a punch. The shimmer shades are buttery and easy to build up. Where this palette falls short on pigmentation is in the purple shades; they lack pigmentation and vibrancy, applying patchy.
  4. Shadow Quality – Upon first swatch, these shadows seem powdery. I was afraid they might be chalky! Despite this strange texture in the pan, they apply beautifully to the eyelids. The mattes and the shimmer shades perform so well. As I mentioned in the previous point, the violet shades are definitely a miss. They can be used as blending shades or in small areas, but they’re not standouts.
  5. Versatility – The shade and texture range in this shadow collection makes it very versatile. Yes, it’s mostly neutral, but the pops of color and spectrum of light-to-dark shades make this a day-to-day, smokey eye, and statement palette all in one. You can go warm, neutral, or cool with this, too. I think the best part is the wide assortment of mattes and shimmers.

What do you think of this palette? So far, I am very much loving it! It’s awakened my love for creating eyeshadow looks again; I can’t wait to keep digging into it.

I’m thinking of doing a comparison post between TF Chocolate Bar and UD Naked — comment below if you’d be interested in seeing this!

Summer Beauty Essentials

Summer is almost here. With the warmer weather and brighter sunshine, I like to keep my makeup routine short and sweet. In addition to being simple, I want my makeup to last all day long so that I don’t find myself touching up or checking the mirror every few minutes. Here are my go-to products for a no-thought, lazy girl look.

TOO FACED PEACHES AND CREAM

This has to be about the 100000th time I’ve mentioned this line of products. Firstly, the packaging makes me swoon. More importantly, however, the products all work together to give me a beautifully soft complexion that does not BUDGE. I won’t exaggerate in my claims – the foundation alone will last all day long without breaking up or getting oily, but pair it with the primer, setting powder, and setting spray for makeup that will last all WEEK long.

If I had to pick just the bare essentials from this collection, I would have to go with the foundation and setting powder. These two are phenomenal on their own; I’ve used the foundation with other setting powders and the setting powder with other foundations. In every case, my makeup stays fresher and lasts longer.

summer beauty benefit hoola bronzer

GIVE ME SOME COLOR

Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer is my favorite matte bronzer. Just a little of this swept onto the perimeters of my face adds warmth, dimension, and tiny rays of emanating sunshine. It’s never patchy, either, so it just looks effortless on my skin.

I’ve also raved about the Multisticks from BITE Beauty about a hundred times. The shade Cashew is ideal for quickly adding a flush to the cheeks, color to the lips, and just a little life to the eyelids. What I love about the matte formula is that it’s extremely long-lasting, yet the cream formula makes it sink into the skin for a natural look. Easy, simple, and impactful. That’s my kind of product.
