Desert-Inspired Khaki Green Makeup Look

Khaki and olive green tones are so flattering on a spread of complexions. If you’re like me and love a good neutral look, the green-based neutral color can really add a twist to an otherwise boring color palette. Summer is usually the time when most break out the bright colors, but I was in the mood to try something a little different. The desert’s rich, deep colors and gritty texture inspired me to pair a khaki smokey eye with muted plum lips and matte skin.

I really love how effortless the khaki makes the eyes look, especially when paired with a muted complementary shade on the lips. I added a little black eyeliner to the waterline to give my eyes a smokier feel. My whole face is matte aside from the shimmer on the eyes to really draw attention to this area and brighten the eyes. Khaki tones can get dark very quickly, but the pale green shimmer shades add a vibrance to the inner portion of the eye. I’ve listed all of the products I used at the end of the post, so enjoy these photos before skipping ahead!

What do you think of this look? Is it something you can see yourself trying out? I love experimenting with non-neutral colors, but I rarely wear these bright shades out and about. This green iteration of a smokey eye is totally wearable in my opinion. I could see myself wearing this look from work to a night out, or to a nice dinner. Pairing the eye with a muted plum shade and matte face really draw attention to the eyes without settling for an all-nude look.

    1. I have a problem with dry lips all of the time. If I know I’m wearing a liquid lipstick, I put Vaseline on my lips beforehand, let it set for a bit, then gently rub off the excess. It helps me a little.

    2. Good idea! I can’t live without vaseline in my life. I started using a lip scrub from a brand called Albeit and it has a very emollient base that works just as well as vaseline (-:
