Happy Valentine’s Day from The Offbeat Venusian

Wishing you a day filled with love and appreciation!

Love is a wonderful experience — it’s part of the foundation for life abundantly. Valentine’s Day is one of those days we can love to hate, but it is an opportunity to appreciate the love we have for both our life partners and our selves. Whether you will be spending the evening over a special meal or treating yourself to something nice, I hope you take the time to ponder over all you have been given in life. No, I am not talking about the material things. Those mean nothing when placed next to the experiences, friendships, and relationships we have in our past, present, and future. I find myself reflecting on my beautiful family, forever friends, and the exciting new opportunities the second half of this year has in store for me.

If you’re finding yourself struggling to enjoy the day, I challenge you to spend time today doing something uplifting for yourself.  Pick up a book you’ve wanted to read, spring for a fancy drink at Starbucks, take a ride out to your favorite park, or go buy yourself the eyeshadow palette you’ve been wanting. You don’t even have to spend money — a nice bubble bath or a revitalizing meditation session are some of infinite ways to show yourself some love.

1 John 4:9-11 This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love:  not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
